About Us

Mike Green is Swanage born and bred and remembers the branch railway as a lad in BR times and the early period of heritage railway restoration. A carpenter by trade, Mike is very much a rail enthusiast, and has been instrumental in the development of the Purbeck Model Railway Group at Godlingston Manor Farm which has one of the largest O gauge layouts in the country. As right-hand man at Golden Age Models for twelve years, he now maintains a close working relationship with our Korean manufacturing base. Mike also produces a variety of laser cut model railway products including bespoke track work, turntables, and buildings. www.greenwoodmodelrailwayproducts.co.uk

Martyn Pring grew up in Bristol. Similarly, a life-long rail enthusiast he remembers as a youngster the final days of steam on the old GWR, LMS and Somerset & Dorset systems. With a career spent in marketing, tourism, and academia, he’s held chief marketing officer posts in both the private and public sectors. A long-term Dorset resident with a particular penchant for O gauge model railways, he established specialist retail outlet www.shamrocktrains.com in 2005. Plotting a course in recording railway, social and tourism narratives, Martyn is currently a travel writer and the author of several highly successful rail and maritime travel history books. www.martynpring.co.uk
